Tips to Maintain Your Home When It’s On the Market
Jan 31, 2019
When you are selling your home, it can be a real challenge maintaining the pristine look that it had at the first home open. This can become particularly challenging if your home is on the market for a long time. Here are a few tips to help reduce your stress and keep your home looking its best.
Check those photos – when you have the professional photos taken, without doubt, your home is looking its very best. Get a copy of these so you can refer back to them regularly. Buyers are expecting to see something very close to the photos so if you can maintain this expectation, it will work in your favour.
Clean a little and often – maintaining your home to a higher standard of cleanliness whilst it is on the market will reduce the stress of spending all day Saturday cleaning. It will also mean if a buyer wants to pop over during the week, you are not frantically tidying up.
Consider relocating your pets – if you have pets that perhaps shed a lot of fur or make a mess of the garden regularly, you might want to consider moving them out for some of the time your home is on the market.
The key to keeping that sparkling look is to be consistent and maintain the same vigour you applied from the very first home open. This can be hard but remember, each week there are new people coming to your home and that is their first impression. Or you can hire a property manager. They will handle everything on your behalf.
